Your complete guide and quick links to everything you want to know!

What Is LED Light Therapy?

Light Emitting Diode (LED) Light Therapy is a popular and painless treatment to both improve your skin’s appearance as well as treat various skin conditions without any downtime whatsoever.

LED Light Therapy is:

  • non-invasive
  • non-thermal
  • painless
  • suitable for all skin types and colours; and
  • requires no recovery or downtime

Our LED LIGHT THERAPY SYSTEM can deliver intense levels of Red or Blue Light depending on the skin condition being targeted.

Rest assured, NO Ultraviolet Light is emitted by the machine to burn or prematurely age your skin.

What Is LED Light Therapy Used For?

Red LED Light Therapy

2023 6 Jun SCC (W)-85

Red LED Light is the light colour of choice for general skin rejuvenation and improving overall skin appearance. Red LED Light is believed to work by stimulating the mitochondria units that produce cell energy within skin cells. These stimulated ‘powerhouses’ of energy within the cells can then deliver the following positive effects on the skin:

  • skin rejuvenation
  • skin regeneration
  • reduction of skin inflammation
  • improved healing times, for example, after some laser treatments
  • enhanced skin texture and tone
  • improved collagen content in the skin

Your initial effects will be a clearer, brighter and smoother complexion.  After a course of treatments, you should also begin to notice an improvement in tone, clarity and texture.

Blue LED Light Therapy

Blue LED Light is primarily used for Acne Treatment.

Blue LED Light has a relatively low penetration into tissue due to its shorter wavelength. Blue LED Light can fight off and kill the species of bacteria known as ‘Propionibacterium acnes’ that are normal resident bacteria within the sebaceous glands but when they multiply, they produce inflamed acne lesions.

Blue LED Light is, therefore, ideal for providing a purifying anti-bacterial effect on the skin as part of the whole acne control program.

Blue LED Light Therapy is a painless treatment and will not cause any post-treatment skin sensitivity.

Your Blue LED Light Therapy course consists of several relaxing, painless and non-invasive treatment sessions.

How Is It Done?

Before starting any treatment, you will need to remove all makeup, sunscreen and any contact lenses.  You will then be provided with safety eyewear which you must keep on at all times during your treatment session as the light is very bright and close to your face.  Each treatment session will last anywhere between 10 and 20 minutes.  As your skin will look perfectly normal after the treatment, you can return to work and social activities immediately.

Potential Side-Effects of LED Light Therapy

In general, LED Light Therapy is safe. The procedure is non-invasive and does not cause burning or pain. Short-term side effects are rare. If they did occur, they could include:

  • inflammation
  • rashes
  • skin redness
  • tenderness

Who Should Not Have LED Light Therapy?

  • Individuals should not use LED Light Therapy if they currently take the well-known medication used for acne (but which Government regulations do not allow us to mention by name).
  • Patients who use topical treatments or medications that cause sensitivity to sunlight.
