Cheek Augmentation

Non-Surgical Cheek Augmentation is an ideal option for those with:

  • ‘Flattening’ or ‘Hollows’across the front of the cheeks from volume loss caused by weight loss or ageing.
  • ‘Flat’ Cheekbones
  • A desire for higher cheekbones as a beauty enhancement.

As we age each, not only does our facial skin lose its elasticity and starts to sag but the deeper soft tissues and bone also shrink and contribute to the signs of ageing.  In the mid-face, there is loss of the cheekbone prominence and flattening of the facial features.  This is especially common across the mid-face where shrinkage and downward migration of the youthful fat pad on the front of the cheeks causes at first flattening and then progresses to “hollows” across this area.

By adding volume to the cheeks by way of a long-lasting Dermal Filler, the “flattening” or “hollows” across the mid-face can be filled and the cheekbones enhanced – all of which replace the commonly-seen ‘drawn’ or ‘tired’ with a more youthful mid-facial fullness.

Here at the Sydney Cosmetic Clinic, we approach this correction in a very artistic way, always mindful to create a very natural ‘look’ that does not in any way suggest to friends or family that the cheeks have been filled.

Moreover, we only use the safest Dermal Fillers which actually contain the identical ingredient that occurs naturally in human skin, so the risk of an allergic reaction is so negligible that no pre-treatment testing for allergy is required.

Our preferred Dermal Filler has an average duration of 2-3 years but in some patients, we have seen it last even longer in the order of 4 or more years.

Although, these fillers are already well known to the public, current Australian Government regulations prevent us from naming them.  We can, however, forward you printed information on them, including their names, if you contact us and personally request it.

How is it done?

The procedure only takes around 20-30 minutes and is performed very simply and painlessly through a single, tiny entry point in the skin that has been numbed with a small amount of local anaesthetic.

Through this tiny entry point, a fine blunt-tipped cannula is inserted to deliver the Dermal Filler. Please note that for the best patient results, we do NOT inject the Dermal Filler with a sharp needle.  Sharp needles require multiple injection points and often cause bruising and lumpiness. Our special cannula technique for cheeks was developed by Dr Mayson years ago and since then we have only ever used this technique because of the beautifully smooth and bruise-free results he achieves with it.

Please note that all Dermal Filler injections at our Clinic are performed only by experienced Cosmetic Surgeons. We do not employ Nurse Injectors.

How will I look afterwards?

The correction is apparent immediately and you can return to work and social activities straightaway.

Immediately after treatment, you may have some temporary, minimal swelling of the area due to the Dermal Filler’s ‘hydrophilic’ property of attracting water to itself from the adjacent tissues.  However, this is never of a degree that looks odd and, in any event, usually settles within 72 hours.

With our special cannula technique, there should be no bruising or discomfort whatsoever.

How much does it cost?

This basically depends on the brand of Dermal Filler you choose and how many syringes are required.  Our doctor will give you an exact costing at your consultation and prior to any treatment as soon as he/she has determined how many syringes you will need.

Chin Augmentation

Non-surgical Chin Augmentation can dramatically improve the profile of those with an under-developed, so-called ‘weak chin’.

Here at the Sydney Cosmetic Clinic, we only use the safest Dermal Fillers which actually contain the identical ingredient that occurs naturally in human skin, so the risk of an allergic reaction is so negligible that  no pre-treatment testing is required.

We have a range of Dermal Fillers suitable for Chin Augmentation but they differ in terms of cost and duration of correction which average anywhere from 9 months to 3 years or more depending on the form of the Dermal Filler preferred by the patient.

Although, these fillers are already well known to the public, current Australian Government regulations prevent us from naming them.  We can, however, forward you printed information on them, including their names, if you contact us and personally request it.

Rest assured, irrespective of the Dermal Filler chosen, here at the Sydney Cosmetic Clinic, we always approach Chin Augmentation in a very artistic way, always mindful to create a very ‘natural’ ‘look’ that does not in any way suggest to friends or family what has been done.

The products we use can deliver corrections lasting up to 2-3 years depending on the brand and its formulation.  When the correction eventually disappears you can repeat it, not repeat it (without any consequences), or change to a surgically-inserted permanent implant.

CONSUMER AWARENESS GUIDE

DON’T DECIDE ON WHERE TO HAVE YOUR CHEEK OR CHIN AUGMENTATION UNTIL YOU’VE READ THE FOLLOWING!

Facial Enhancements with Dermal Fillers is a huge growth industry.  As such, more and more doctors and an increasing number of nurses are entering the field.  So, before you decide who will inject your Dermal Filler, consider each of the following:

    1. The experience of the injector is paramount: Anyone can inject a filler under the skin but it’s knowledge and experience that gives the practitioner the right ‘feel’ of precisely how much and how deep the filler needs to be deposited.  Don’t be afraid to ask how long he/she has been injecting Dermal Fillers.

    1. An increasing number of Nurses are injecting Dermal Fillers: Dermal Fillers are classified by the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration as S4 Products and accordingly IT IS ILLEGAL FOR A NURSE TO INJECT DERMAL FILLERS UNLESS YOU HAVE FIRST HAD A FACE-TO-FACE CONSULTATION WITH THE DOCTOR OF THAT PRACTICE. Skype consultations do not allow a proper assessment of your face and so are not an acceptable substitute for a face-to-face consultation.  For these reasons, the Government is currently reviewing the legislation in relation to Nurse Injectors using Skype consultations with a doctor to circumvent the regulations.

    1. Making your treatments more comfortable: Please note that Nurses are not permitted by law to administer Local Anaesthetic ‘Blocks’.  Without a Local Anaesthetic Block, your treatment could prove quite painful.  Some nurses apply EMLA cream as an alternative to a ‘block’ but it’s never as effective.

    1. Don’t choose purely on price and end up choosing the cheapest quote.  Experienced doctors may charge slightly more but this is usually a reflection of their skill and experience.  And it is skill and experience that sets one result apart from another!

  1. Make sure the Dermal Filler you are about to be injected with is GENUINE. There have been many reports and warnings about complications from cheap, counterfeit Dermal Fillers illegally imported from overseas.  The packaging may suggest that the Filler is genuine but if it is just a clever copy, the counterfeit Filler could contain impurities capable of causing serious complications.  The safest approach is to only go to reputable clinics and not be tempted by cheap injectable ‘deals’ which could reflect a counterfeit product and therefore unsafe.

Remember, YOU are the consumer, YOU are spending your hard-earned dollars and you deserve the highest professional standards and the best possible results for your money.  Don’t accept anything less!
