As we age each, not only does our facial skin progressively lose its elasticity and starts to sag but changes in the deeper layers also contribute to the signs of ageing. The bone and soft tissues degenerate, especially in the mid-face and this leads to loss of the prominence of the cheeks and flattening of the facial features. Specifically, the descent of the cheek fat pad results in a decrease of the facial fullness.
By adding volume to the cheeks, the former youthful facial fullness can be restored and enhanced thereby lessening the signs of ageing.
There is now a specific Dermal Filler that can be used for non-surgical Cheek and/or Chin Augmentation. The product is identical in nature to the well known Dermal Filler which most people know very well by name but which current Australian Government regulations prevent us from naming. We can, however, forward you printed information on this subject if you contact us and personally request it.
WHO IS SUITABLE?
This procedure provides a suitable alternative to surgical cheek and chin implants. It is primarily indicated for:
- Cheek Augmentation in younger patients with flat cheekbones who for whatever reason(s) do not wish to have cheek implants inserted surgically.
- Mid-Face Rejuvenation in patients who have lost facial volume and want to restore a youthful appearance - as an alternative to surgery.
- Chin Augmentation - pure augmentation in those who have always had an under-developed chin profile, or those with early chin ptosis who desire rejuvenation of the chin profile - as an alternative to a surgically inserted implant.
- Those who intend having a surgical cheek or chin implant but who wish to first gauge the likely improvement an implant would produce.
HOW IS IT DONE?
The procedure is performed very simply using local anaesthesia alone. As Intravenous (Twilight) Sedation is NOT required, you can go home immediately afterwards.
HOW WILL I LOOK AFTERWARDS?
Immediately after treatment, you may experience some swelling, slight tenderness, mild redness and some bruising in the area. This is a normal result following this type of procedure. The inconvenience is temporary and usually disappears in 1-2 weeks.
HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?
The product produces long-lasting correction but is not permanent. Correction in the order of 9-12 months can be expected, possibly longer. When all the correction eventually disappears you can either repeat it, no longer have it (without any consequence), or change to a surgically inserted permanent implant.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
This basically depends on how many syringes are required. Dr Mayson will give you an exact costing at your consultation once he has determined how many syringes are needed.
