For many women, breast size is an important part of their self-image and Breast Augmentation can dramatically improve the self-esteem of those women unhappy or self-conscious about the size and appearance of their breasts. Breast Augmentation is indicated both for those women whose breasts have never fully developed as well as those whose breasts have reduced in size after having children. These aside, there are also those women who simply desire a larger breast size. Saline or Silicone Implants, Round or 'Tear-Drop' Shape Implants, Smooth or Textured ("Rough") Implant walls, Location of Incisions - under the breast, around the areola, in the armpit or through the navel. Position of Implant - 'under the muscle' or 'in front of the muscle' Dr George Mayson is one of the leading Certified Cosmetic Surgeons in Australia, always at the forefront of new technologies in Cosmetic Surgery. A leader in his field, Dr Mayson in 1993 was the first doctor in NSW to acquire the revolutionary Q-switched YAG laser for the safe removal of tattoos without scarring. His work has featured regularly on TV and in major magazines and newspapers. In 2004, he was invited to perform a Breast Augmentation on Channel 7's makeover program 'The Body Specialists'. He has been interviewed on interstate radio stations and has conducted Cosmetic Surgery talk-back sessions on 2UE, 2GB and ABC. His work has also featured on top-rating television programs such as 'Today Tonight', 'A Current Affair' and 'Good Medicine' and for years Dr Mayson was the regular guest Cosmetic Surgeon on Channel Nine's 'Midday Show' with Kerri-Anne Kennerley. Abdominoplasty, popularly known as 'Tummy Tuck' is a procedure to correct abdominal wall laxity or 'overhang' by tightening the abdominal wall muscles and removing the excess skin from the lower abdomen. Liposuction may also need to be done at the same time if there is also excessive fat on the abdominal wall. Liposuction alone will not correct abdominal wall laxity or 'overhang' - only an Abdominoplasty can achieve that.

Dr Mayson believes that the most important criteria to look for are the doctor's training, experience and reputation for good results in the very procedure you are considering. Dr Mayson's distinguished reputation in the field of Cosmetic Surgery has come about through his thorough training, experience and the highest professional standards. These qualities, combined with his artistic approach and a driving principle that "close enough is NOT good enough" when it comes to results, has generated a very high patient satisfaction rate. Chemical Peeling is a procedure in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin causing a peeling of its upper layers. Depending on the depth of the peeling it can remove freckles, brown blotches, scaly sunspots and even superficial wrinkles. The peeled skin is then replaced by new skin which grows out from the depths of the hair follicles. The new skin, having been protected in the depths of the hair follicles from exposure to the sun, is fresher and unblemished in its appearance. Superficial Peel is a type of peel removes only the very uppermost layers of the skin. Accordingly it will only smooth and freshen up the skin. It will not remove wrinkles, freckles, sunspots or brown blotches. Medium Peel is our most commonly performed Chemical Peel. Liposuction is indicated for the removal of genetically pre-determined fat deposits that are out of proportion to the rest of your body shape. In contrast to other body fat cells, fat cells in genetically pre-determined deposits are characteristically resistant to diet and exercise. Weight reduction may slightly reduce the prominence of these genetic deposits but you will lose more from your other body areas and so the disproportion will more or less remain. Liposuction, however, can permanently remove these deposits by removing the excess fat cells that make up the deposit. WHAT AREAS ARE SUITABLE FOR LIPOSUCTION? Basically, any area of disproportion due to excess fat can be corrected by liposuction. Liposuction should be regarded as a body re-shaping procedure and not a method of losing weight. Common areas in women include the abdomen, hips, inner and outer thighs, around the knees and under the chin. Calves, ankles and arms can also be slimmed down provided there is an excess of fat as opposed to muscle bulk. Men, in comparison, most commonly develop genetic deposits on the flanks ("love handles"), abdomen, breasts and under the chin. As we get older, our eyes can develop "heaviness" or "hooding" on the upper eyelids as well as "bags" under the lower eyelids. Both are due to variable amounts of excess skin, muscle and fat. Removal of these changes to create a more youthful look to the eyes is known as 'Blepharoplasty' and it can dramatically improve the appearance of one's eyes. It is important to realise that Blepharoplasty can be done either by scalpel or CO2 laser and that there are significant differences between the two techniques that warrant your consideration before you decide on which one to have. The advantages and benefits of the laser technique stem from the fact that in contrast to a scalpel, a CO2 laser seals the tiny blood vessels in the skin and tissues as it cuts. As a result, there is very little or no bleeding during your surgery. THE VARIOUS TYPES OF FACELIFT which type of face-lifting procedure will best meet your requirements basically depends on the extent to which your face has aged in each area. Standard Face & Neck Lift - necessary when there is excessive sagging and skin laxity of the face and neck to a point below the level of your larynx (voice box). S-Lifts and Mini-Lifts - are less extensive versions of facelift and can be used when there are less advanced signs of facial ageing where the skin looseness does not extend below the level of the larynx. Neck Lift (only) - indicated for those whose laxity is confined to the neck.

 WHAT CAUSES ACNE ?

Acne is caused by a combination of genetic, hormonal and local factors acting on the sebaceous glands of the skin. Sebaceous glands are the oil-producing glands of the skin and they are most numerous on the face.

In the development of acne four major changes occur in these glands to produce the lesions commonly referred to as "pimples":

Skin cells block the openings of the glands at the skin surface (the pores).

There is an increased production of oil by the sebaceous glands. This is especially so at puberty and during adolescence.

Bacteria, which normally live in the sebaceous glands, begin to multiply when the glands become blocked and distended with material.

The multiplication of these bacteria then produces the inflammation that we recognise as "pimples".

Many cosmetic foundations, creams and especially moisturisers contain oils which can block the pores and either aggravate or be the sole cause of the acne.

Despite popular opinion, acne is NOT caused by dietary factors such as eating chocolates and sweets, nor is it a result of unclean skin.

THE TREATMENT OF ACNE
The specific treatment for each individual case of acne is formulated only after a detailed history and thorough assessment of the skin. The actual treatment prescribed usually includes one or more of the following:
  • Total Avoidance of All Oily Cosmetics

  • Topical Therapy to unblock the pores

  • Antibiotics (not routinely prescribed, usually only in the initial phases of treatment if at all)

  • Hormonal Therapy

  • Roaccutane (Iso-Tretinoin): Roaccutane has a profound effect on acne and is the only real cure for acne. The drug is taken orally for 12-16 weeks and most people require one course only.
Depending on the history and state of your acne, the doctor will decide which treatment or combination of treatments is best indicated for your acne.
